All Beyond Basics staff participate in ongoing continuing education in their specialties.
All Beyond Basics physical therapists are licensed in the State of New York and hold a master's degree in physical therapy with specialized training in pelvic floor dysfunction, women's health care, and orthopedic injuries. In addition, all physical therapists have extensive training in manual therapy.
Amy Stein, MPT, BCIA-PMDB
Physical Therapist
Amy Stein, MPT, BCIA-PMDB received her B.A. from Washington University in St Louis, Missouri. She received her master's in physical therapy (MPT) from Nova Southeastern University. She has been working with orthopedic, pelvic floor dysfunction and women's health for many years. Amy is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) Women's Health Section, New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA), Interstitial Cystitis Association, Endometriosis Association, National Vulvodynia Association, The Women's Sexual Health Foundation, and the International Pelvic Pain Society. Her interests include spending time with family and friends, skiing, snowboarding, rock climbing, roller blading, hiking, biking, camping, fishing, tennis, laughing, relaxing and of course helping others. Amy is fluent in Spanish.
Amy set out to create a new type of practice which would take a holistic approach to the patient's entire well being. She envisioned various professions working together to improve the patient's quality of life. In 2003, this vision became Beyond Basics Physical Therapy, LLC.
Wheat Ridge, CO - The Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) is pleased to announce that Amy Stein Wood, MPT has become certified in Pelvic Muscle Dysfunction Biofeedback. Amy joins an elite group of professionals who have met the education, clinical and exam criteria required in order to become a certified provider of pelvic muscle dysfunction biofeedback services to treat elimination disorders and pelvic pain syndromes.
Amy Stein Wood, MPT has a practice that provides services to men, women and children suffering from pelvic floor dysfunction, pelvic pain, bowel disorders (including irritable bowel syndrome, constipation, etc) and incontinence. Amy has had wonderful success in treating pelvic floor dysfunction and utilizing biofeedback for over 7 years.
Certification demonstrates professionalism and adherence to carefully developed standards as a health care provider. Procedures are consistent with the Department of Health & Human Services Guidelines, giving credibility and evidence that practitioners maintain knowledge and skill levels. Health care professionals who achieve BCIA Certification demonstrate commitment to professionalism by completing basic degree and educational requirements, learning to apply clinical biofeedback skills during mentorship, and passing a written examination.
The Biofeedback Certification Institute of America (BCIA) is the only institute recognized worldwide granting certification to biofeedback practitioners. BCIA was established in 1981 with the mission of protecting the general public by establishing strict standards for biofeedback practitioners. Currently, more than 1,500 health care professionals have achieved certification in general, EEG, or pelvic muscle dysfunction biofeedback. Many clinicians have more than one certification. Roseanne Cruz, DPT
Physical Therapist
Roseanne Cruz, DPT, received her B.S. and her doctoral (DPT) degree from New York University. Before joining Beyond Basics Physical Therapy, Roseanne worked with patients who were diagnosed with various neurological and orthopedic issues such as traumatic brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, strokes, total joint replacements, and low back pain. Roseanne has been interested in working with patients with pelvic pain, pelvic floor dysfunction, and lymphedema for many years and has spoken in the Greater New York area on these topics.
Roseanne is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association Women's Health and Oncology Sections, New York Physical Therapy Association (NYPTA), National Vulvodynia Association, the International Pelvic Pain Society, and the National Lymphedema Network. Her hobbies include reading, knitting, running, kickboxing, salsa dancing, traveling, and spending time with her friends and family.
Stacey Futterman, PT, MPT, BCIA-PMDB
Physical Therapist
Stacey Futterman, PT, MPT, BCIA-PMDB certified, received her Master's Degree in Physical Therapy from Nova Southeastern University in South Florida in 1996. After graduation she relocated to Chicago where she began specializing in women's and men's health issues including the treatment of orthopedic and sports medicine, incontinence, pelvic pain and prenatal/postpartum musculoskeletal issues. Her current treatment approach not only uses physical therapy to treat pelvic and chronic pain conditions, but incorporates yoga, nutrition and psychotherapy in the overall treatment approach. She has been featured on CBS New York and has presented for the APTA National Conference 2007 for the treatment of male pelvic pain. Stacey is currently teaching for the Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute which provides a comprehensive, evidence-based, continuing education for the rehabilitation of the pelvic floor and pelvic girdle dysfunction.
Dania M. Kafka, MS, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Dania M. Kafka, MS, PT, DPT, received her BA at Barnard College and completed her Masters and Doctorate in Physical Therapy at Columbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dania has extensive training and experience in orthopedics, manual therapy, women's health, and pelvic floor dysfunction. She has been working at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy since 2007 and teaches pre-natal and post-partum care at Realbirth in midtown. She also started and ran a pelvic floor rehab program at the student health center at New York University. Previously, she treated adults with various orthopedic conditions in an outpatient setting and has also worked with children with special needs in the school system. Outside of the physical therapy office, Dania enjoys dance, Pilates, the performing arts, and traveling.
Dania is a member of the International Pelvic Pain Society (IPPS), the National Vulvodynia Association (NVA), the Interstitial Cystitis Network (ICN), the Interstitial Cystitis Association (ICA), the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) and the women's health, orthopedic, and sports medicine special interest groups within the APTA.
Stephanie Lutz, PT, DPT
Physical Therapist
Stephanie Lutz, DPT, received her B.A. in Biological Sciences from University of Delaware and her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. While at Thomas Jefferson University, Stephanie became interested in women's and men's health issues and completed a specialized internship focused on pelvic pain and sacroiliac dysfunction. Prior to joining Beyond Basics Physical Therapy, Stephanie worked with patients with a variety of orthopedic conditions and sports injuries. Stephanie has completed extensive training in male and female pelvic floor dysfunction as well as prenatal and postpartum care. Stephanie resides in Hoboken, NJ, and enjoys running, yoga and traveling.
Stephanie is a member of the American Physical Therapy Association's Orthopedic and Women's Health Interest Sections, International Pelvic Pain Society, and National Vulvodynia Association.
Kimberly Van Liempd
Physical Therapist
Kim received her Master's degree in 2003 and Doctorate's degree in 2005 at Loma Linda University in Loma Linda, California. Her thesis was based on Women's Health including pelvic pain, pregnancy, and incontinence. She relocated to Los Angeles to work in orthopedics, wound care with scalpel debridement, lymphedema manual drainage program, and initiated pelvic floor education and women's health.
Kim has clinical expertise in men and women's spine and orthopedics, sports medicine, women's health, spinal pain in pregnancy and post-pregnancy, as well as, sexual function, pelvic pain and continence with training from Herman and Wallace Pelvic Rehab Institute. Her joys come from travel, shopping, the beach, and cherishes motherhood with new daughter Kiana.
