What To Expect
During Your Initial Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Appointment
At Beyond Basics in Midtown, NY, your initial appointment will start with a detailed conversation to gather information about your health and the symptoms you’re experiencing. This helps our team understand the full scope of your concerns. Following this, we’ll perform a physical exam, tailored to your symptoms. The hands-on evaluation may include both external and internal assessments to identify the root causes of your discomfort.
During the session, internal manual techniques will be applied to your pelvic floor muscles, nerves, and bones to target specific areas of tension and pain. Your comfort is a priority, and you have the right to decline any treatment at any time. Additionally, your physical therapist will provide personalized at-home exercises aimed at addressing urinary symptoms and relieving discomfort.
During Your Additional Pelvic Floor Physical Therapy Appointments
Every pelvic floor physical therapy session lasts for one hour. During this time, your physical therapist will perform manual therapy, evaluate your progress, answer any questions you may have, and provide you with customized at-home exercises if needed. Most patients experience noticeable improvement in their symptoms within 8 weeks, although some may see results sooner.
